Arima Hot springs, one of Japan's three oldest hot springs, is even mentioned in the Nihon Shoki (Chronicles of Japan). Its foundation was laid by Gyoki Bodhisattva and Ninsei Shonin, and during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, Taiko Toyotomi Hideyoshi loved these hot springs and held tea ceremonies and banquets there. The memory of a place where royalty and many cultural figures have cherished and nurtured their sensibilities remains.
